Food for thought

“My mentor Jenny So invited me for a lunch in London, where we had a great time. She talked a lot about her studies and work, and her life after moving to the United Kingdom. I was glad to learn how she made the decision of moving to London, and how she made up her mind to stay there although many of her friends have moved back to Hong Kong in recent years. She told me “to think independently what is the best for yourself”.

Jenny also shared with me her thoughts about Hong Kong and the UK, the differences and similarities. We also talked a lot about China, how China is playing a more and more important role in the world, and the recent relationship between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. She also recommended some places of interest in London, which she thought I might be interested in.

I have learnt a lot from Jenny. She gave me a lot of information about the UK, provided me with ideas in terms of my academic and career development in the future, and gave me loads of valuable suggestions. I am really thankful to her!” Devin Guo Fangzhou, who was on exchange at the University of Manchester.
