“My mentor Mrs Yumiko Nakano and I met at Shimbashi Station and had a great lunch together talking about Hong Kong, which is a common connection between us, her work, my studies, and our families. Then we walked all the way through Tokyo to Hibiya Station where Hibiya Park, the Imperial Palace, and historical buildings are. The weather was nice and we could walk slowly and talk. Before we said goodbye for the day, she wrote a page of recommended places to visit near Tokyo, and invited me to stay at her house in January to experience a Japanese home and to spend time together. I am thankful and really excited for the visit!
She kindly answered my general questions, before and after my arrival, about living in Tokyo, which helped me a lot to prepare life in Tokyo and have more relaxed mind about living there. She took me to famous and historical places and talked about each building like an experienced guide. Also, she said over and over that whenever I need help or have any questions to ask her through email and phone calls. It made me feel safer and more comfortable about living in the host country. During the lunch, she gave me life advice as well.” Jisu Son, who is from Korea and, and mentor Mrs Yumiko Nakano.
