Give and Take

“Through the mentoring relationship, I gained a lot of useful advice and new perspectives in terms of my career path and the future of engineering development. Not only did I learn from my mentor, Dr Fok, I also learn a lot from the previous mentees of Dr Fok during our gatherings. Not all of Dr Fok’s previous mentees are working in the field of engineering, but all of them have given me valuable information such as the experience of going on a working holiday, and enlightened me with valuable knowledge regarding different career paths.

Dr Fok is willing to spend time out of his busy schedule to meet me and provide me with constructive suggestions for when I had doubts. One of the most important advice Dr Fok gave me concerned having the right mentality as a student and as a fresh graduate. Never be afraid to do more than the others, as the more responsibility you take, the more opportunities you get.”
