Helped me settling in

“Throughout this 4-month exchange at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, I have met Linda for lunch and dinner. Linda has taught us lots of things such as how to adapt to the cultural differences and tips on studying aboard. It is very useful as when we (Joyce and I) arrived in Sydney we found it was not easy to adapt to the lifestyle and the culture, as well as studies at the beginning.

Not only did I benefit from my mentor Linda, I have had the opportunity to meet other HKU alumni and mentors at alumni gatherings. From our conversations, I learnt a lot about the career prospects in Australia as well.

When I met Linda for the second time,  we were already a bit more adapted to the environment. We met another mentor Lily and her mentee Kush, who is on exchange at the University of Sydney taking Computer Science. We shared a lot about our studies at the two universities, and the differences between studying in Australia and Hong Kong. It felt very good to find a friend who understands what we have been through.”
