[Illinois] Feeling great with mentor

“I benefitted a lot from my mentor’s positive attitude towards academia, life and people. Being a respected professor in electrical engineering in Illinois Institute of Technology, Professor Wong treated me as a friend with all his kindness. He is the type of senior who is easy to get along with, and he makes me feel great about myself.

We met for the first time in downtown Chicago where my mentor took me to a Chinese restaurant and later on a ferry tour along the Mississippi river. We had great conversations throughout the trip. He was always in an optimistic mood and so energetic!

We had another gathering with HKU alumni in Chicago and I met a lot of interesting people there. I would strongly recommend that exchange students join this programme if you are interested to know how people, with similar backgrounds as you, live their lives abroad. I was not able to meet my mentor very often since my university was 3 hours’ ride from Chicago where my mentor lives, but I did benefit a lot from the time we spent together.”
