Mentee Esther Wong and Mentor Ms Sylvia Chiang in Melbourne, reunited in 2021

Overseas Mentorship Programme which first launched in 2000 impacted over 3000 mentees throughout the 25 years. HKU Mentee Esther Wong (BA(ArchStud) 2017, MArch 2021) first met HKU Mentor Ms Sylvia Chiang back in 2016 during her exchange in Melbourne.

After graduation, Esther got a job in Rocco Yim’s firm and was involved in the design project of the Hong Kong Palace Museum. She later took a Master’s degree and got a scholarship through which she found a sponsoring firm in Melbourne for a year’s working experience. Once back in Melbourne, Esther made sure to meet up with her mentor for a reunion. A long-delayed reunion as the last time they met was in Hong Kong before the pandemic!

They hope their story will inspire more HKU alumni and students to develop great friendships through the HKU mentorship programme!
