Comparing observations

Washington, DC mentees Serena Wang (BEng(IETM) Year 3) and Charlie Bai (BEcon&Fin Year 3), and their mentor Mrs Andrea Saturno-Sanjana enjoyed sampling the menu at the new Da Hong Pao Restaurant in the bustling and trendy 14th Street Corridor.

Since Charlie was attending the University of Maryland, a traditional, large US campus, and Serena was attending The George Washington University, an urban campus in the heart of the city only a few blocks from the White House, the students were able to compare notes. Serena and Charlie have also travelled widely throughout the US and were pleased to share their observations and experiences. Charlie presented Andrea with an elegant pin marking the 20th anniversary of the HKU Mentorship Programme.

“My mentor Andrea is very gentle and friendly. She and her husband introduced us to some American tourist attractions, and US culture and society, and shared their views on the development of Hong Kong and the States, which was very useful for understanding the country and the local people,” Charlie said.
