“I gained numerous bits of advice from my mentor, Professor Cheng Yiu Chung, on how to lead a life as a PhD student, and met many of his past mentees and learnt about their experiences. Professor Cheng is very knowledgeable and he shares many of his thoughts, opinions, and knowledge with me. I am able to learn so much through my mentor’s experience and wisdom, which have benefitted me greatly, especially in coping with the tough situations of university life.
Despite the gap in age, Professor Cheng is approachable and comfortable to talk to. He is very friendly to me and I did not feel awkward nor weird in my conversations with him. He has always been easy to contact and he is willing to attend to my needs whenever I need him. Besides, he also keeps in contact with his past mentees, asking how are they doing and wishing them all the best. I particularly admire his charisma and profound knowledge. I see my mentor as a role model to learn from and I wish to be as successful as he is. I hope to spend more time and get to know him better in the future.” Bovern, PhD student from Malaysia
