“My mentor Dr Ronald Lo has lived in the UK for more than 20 years. He is familiar with the history and local culture. During our lunch gathering, he told us stories about the development of London, and explained the importance of learning the British culture so that we could have a better understanding of the place we are living in and have more topics to talk about with local people.
During my exchange in Bristol, I met new friends from across the globe, but what we talked most were very mundane and dull topics, which did not really help us to build strong relationships with each other. Dr Lo inspired me to read more about different cultures so that I could make friends from various backgrounds easier.
Dr Lo, Wendy Ni (my fellow mentee) and I had a lunch gathering in a Chinese restaurant located in London’s Chinatown. I seldom ate dim sum during my stay in the UK and, as Dr Lo knew that I missed Chinese cuisine, he was very kind to bring us to this place to enjoy our lunch. We shared with him our exchange experience and had a nice meet-up.” Mentee Chang Tsz Paak (centre), with Wendy (left) and mentor Dr Ronald Lo
